The holidays are when many families first notice that a parent's house has stopped working for them. Take our Free Home Safety Checklist with you, and you'll know what you're seeing.

You don't need to inspect anything. Just pay attention while you visit.
Is there a railing on both sides, a light that comes on by itself, and salt or sand within reach? Icy entries are a winter fall waiting to happen.
Is there a chair or bench by the door for putting on boots? Balancing on one foot to pull on a boot is a common way to fall.
Walk from their bed to the bathroom with the lights off. If you'd stumble, so might they.
Are they holding the towel bar or the sink to get in and out of the tub? Towel bars aren't built to hold a person.
Do they steady themselves on furniture or walls to cross a room? Families call it furniture walking, and it's one of the 10 signs.

Give it to a parent who wants to stay in their home, or to a sibling so you can make the plan together. It includes room-by-room safety checklists, an action plan with typical prices, and Minnesota's planning forms. The Bonus Pack comes free.
